A gift to Woodberry Forest through your will or revocable trust is a wonderful commitment to support current and future Tigers. A bequest:

  • Is not complicated.
  • Allows you to designate future support.
  • May be modified depending on changes over the course of your lifetime.

Residual Bequest Language

A residual bequest will come to Woodberry after all other estate expenses have been paid:

I give and bequeath to Woodberry Forest School, located at 898 Woodberry Road, Woodberry Forest, Virginia, 22989, a 501(c)3 educational organization, all (or state a percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program; however, if said program or fund are no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, then the bequest will support a school priority as determined by the Board of Trustees who will be mindful of the donor's original intent).

Specific Bequest Language

Naming Woodberry as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate:

I give and bequeath to Woodberry Forest School, located at 898 Woodberry Road, Woodberry Forest, Virginia, 22989, a 501(c)3 educational organization, the sum of $_______ to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program; however, if said program or fund are no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, then the bequest will support a school priority as determined by the Board of Trustees who will be mindful of the donor's original intent).

Contingent Bequest Language

Woodberry Forest School can be named as a contingent beneficiary in your will or personal trust if one or more of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled:

If (insert name) is not living or in existence at the time of my death, I give and bequeath to Woodberry Forest School, located at 898 Woodberry Road, Woodberry Forest, Virginia, 22989, a 501(c)3 educational organization, the sum of $ _______ (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific fund or program; however, if said program or fund are no longer viable, applicable, or in existence, then the bequest will support a school priority as determined by the Board of Trustees who will be mindful of the donor's original intent).

Each of the above provisions are suggestions only, and we recommend discussing them with an attorney to ensure proper application.
